Storyboard Text

  • Bye! I love you!
  • Bye Vidhula! We'll miss you but have a great time!
  • Hello! Welcome aboard!
  • Is she OK?
  • I waved goodbye to my parents as an airport official led me through the vast hallways of the Chicago O'Hare airport. I was on my way to India to spend the summer with my grandparents. But what was even more exciting was that I was traveling alone!
  • Hi mom! I'm in Dubai! I miss you!!
  • I was the first one to get on the plane and when I got on I had a whole welcoming committee. I was greeted by the pilot and a flock of air hostesses. I was enjoying the first-class treatment of not having to wait in any of the long airport lines.
  • Mommy, I'm hungry and sleepy. When are we going to get there? I'm also really bored.
  • As I settled into my seat I realized that I wouldn't see my parents or friends for two months! So right there, out of no where I started bawling my eyes out. By then, the plane had been boarded and I was getting looks from people all around me, so as quickly as I started crying, I stopped and started grinning like an idiot.
  • Grandma! Grandpa! Hello! I'm finally here!!
  • After flying for almost 20 hours we landed in Dubai, and I was herded to the unaccompanied minor lounge. I was give good food and a place to just relax. I was also able to FaceTime my parents. But that didn't last long because it was time to board the flight that would take me to India.
  • On the plane to India I realized I was still missing my mom and dad. Next to me sat a mom and her young daughter, looking at them made me realize that the freedom and independence I'd been arguing for to come on this trip, had finally come, but it didn't feel too good.
  • When the plane landed in India, I decided there was no point in being disappointed anymore. I'd wanted to come by myself and I had done it! Seeing my grandma and grandpa, and running into their arms after so many years, made me feel happy and excited to be with them.
