  • For example, he invaded the Rhineland. Even though this was against the rules, Britain and France stood back and did nothing.

  • Hitler tried to break the rules of the Treaty of Versaille as much as possible. 
  • Treaty of Versaille
  • While Austrians liked this, the UK and the US  gave vocal protests, but nothing official came out of this.
  • Germans
  • Hitler then decided to annex Austria since he was able to do it to Rhineland.
  • Austrians
  • Chamberlain the British Prime Minister loved this because Hitler promised to only take a part of Czech.
  • Hitler has now taken over Czechoslovakia, and signed the Munich agreement.
  • Hitler and Mussolini signed an agreement and formed the Axis powers. 
  • Other Alliance powers did nothing other than make it as a small news story, it was not taken seriously.
  • Pact of Steel
  • Germany and the Soviet-Union signed a non-agression pact, which was a promise that they wouldn't attack eachother for 10 years.
  • This is what really scared people. With these three countries in an alliance, they knew bad things could happen. Yet, there was still no formal action taken.
  • Non-Agression Act
  • Britain and Poland signed a treaty with France, which ultimately made WW2 break out.
  • Germany has now invaded Poland.
