Storyboard Description

The 'true' story of the founding of Rome.

Storyboard Text

  • They were born the sons of Rhea Silvia (Princess of Alba Longa) and the God Mars.
  • Romulus
  • Remus
  • However, the twins survived and were suckled by a she-wolf.
  • Numitor insisted that they stay to become the future rulers, of Alba Longa, but they declined.
  • Their happiness was not to last, as Rhea's uncle Amulius overthrew her father and ordered the babies to be drowned in the River Tiber.
  • They decided to have a competition; whoever had the most birds fly over their hill would choose the site for the city and rule. Remus stood on Aventine Hill, and Romulus on Palatine Hill.
  • They were found by a farmer, Faustulus, and they were raised by him and his wife. Then one day, Remus was kidnapped by Rhea's exiled father, Numitor, and they helped him to return to the throne.
  • As Romulus was building his city, Remus came and taunted Romulus on the size of his walls 'What sort of city do you call this, where I can leap over its heavens?'
  • Instead, they decided to build their own city.
  • Romulus ended up building his city, becoming the first ever King of Rome
  • Remus saw 6 birds first, but Romulus saw 12-the city was to be built, known as Rome!
  • Aventine Hill
  • Palatine Hill
  • In a fit of rage, Romulus stabbed Remus, declaring 'So perish those who cross my walls'.
  • The End
