  • Hello, I'm Watson
  • Hello I'm Rayner
  • Watson and Rayner wanted to carry out an experiment and they needed a participant so Albert's mother agreed that her child will participate.
  • First they introduced him to neutral stimulus like the dog above which produced neutral response in Little Albert. NS ---> NR
  • The another neutral stimulus was shown, the rabbit to which Little Albert had no response.
  • He was then introduced to a white rat as a neutral stimulus and it seemed that he liked it the most out of all the things that had been introduced.
  • After unconditioned stimulus has been introduced which is the noise that was made by hammer hitting a bar of steel which produced unconditioned response in Little Albert such as fear. He was then shown the white rat, and the noise was produced at the same time and he learned to fear the white rat and developed a phobia. UCS + NS ----> UCR
  • Little Albert has developed a phobia because then he learned to fear all the other furry objects by associating them with the white rat, such as the dog, rabbit, seal fur coat even facial hair on the men. CS ----> CR
