  • Elizabeth Proctor being taken away to go to trail at court. Relates to the plot because this is the climax in which they were not expecting to deal with the court as soon as they just finished arguing they were unsuspecting of this and leads to the characters suspecting Abigail of the arrest. Relates to conflict because Elizabeth is innocent but with the discovery of the poppet doll they cause her of witchcraft because Abigail was stabbed so they believe that Elizabeth is a witch and mad Abigail have a stab wound. This relates to the theme of "mass hysteria without proof" because the court system and the warrant issued should have not been issued Abigail exaggerated the sat would and blamed Elizabeth because she wants John for her self so finds a way to get the poppet in their home and leads to the arrest of Elizabeth because of the mass hysteria.
  • Relates to the plot because it is the exposition and starts out the starting of the scene which starts all the drama in Salem they begin dancing. Relates to the conflict because in Salem they are holy and are very much believing in God they are strict in that dancing is a sign of witchcraft. The theme "mass hysteria is dangerous without proof" this is important because this starts out the hysteria about witchcraft in Salem which will get many killed without solid proof.
  • Betty was in bed sick after the dancing in the woods. Shows and tells of importance because the girls start naming of names of so called witches which gets the names of many innocent ladies mentioned which leads them to a huge court cases later on in the story. This leads to the rising action because many innocent women names were mentioned and they were threatened to be hung if they did not confess. Hysteria from the girls lead to many of the women to be questioned in court later in the story. Relates to the theme of "mass hysteria is dangerous without proof" this is true because all of the lies sad by Abigail and Betty cause mass hysteria which will lead to the demise of many innocent women and cause a mass search of so called "witches".
  • This scene in the story leads to the climax because it is when Marry Warren enters and brings a poppet to give to Elizabeth. This scene is important to the plot because it shows when Marry Warren walks into the scene from arriving from the court house and brings a poppet home from the court. This is important as Marry Warren was sitting beside of Abigail at the time of having the poppet and later in the Story Abigail gets stabbed which blames Elizabeth by saying she sent her spirit to stab her through the poppet doll which on a later scene a needle was discovered in the poppet. This is importnt to the conflict of witch hunting because Abigail blamed Elizabeth for being a witch and sending her spirit to stab her which shows to the conflict in which the court is trying to solve related to women being witches. Relates to the theme of "mass hysteria is dangerous without proof" because they start questioning Elizabeth without having actual proof that she is a witch which causes hysteria because Elizabeth beliefs and knows that she is not a witch but the court needs proof and does not yet know the truth which creates big problems in the story because they believe that the poppet is witchcraft but do not have solid proof to back it up.
  • Relates to the plot because it is the falling action. John and Elizabeth are in the court and John calls himself out of adultery and Elizabeth lies to Judge and causes John to be arrested and Elizabeth is given time to live because he is pregnant. Relates to the conflict because in Salem it was prohibited to be a witch or to commit adultery because they were so holy any of these sins true or false caused great sin in the eyes of the court and of the people as it is a sign or witchcraft and disobedience toward the court, law, and God. This relates to the theme "mass hysteria is dangerous without proof" because exaggerated actions of Abigail caused John and Lizabeth to end up in the court which caused problems such as Proctor getting locked up and Elizabeth being on trial for committing witch craft because of the poppet doll which was discovered and she was held accountable for because of hysteria towards the poppet dolls and the time period.
  • Relates to the resolution to the plot because the ending in which John wanted to keep his good name caused him his life he choose not to turn in a paper that was a signature of his name that he repented and was telling the truth to not be hung. Relates to the conflict because in Salem many of the people there are all about being holy and honest and courages. John had lose everything that meant value to him being a honest and good man. He did not want to lose everything so he decided he only thing that he could not give now was his name so he did not give it. Relates to the theme "mass hysteria is dangerous without proof" because ultimately Abigail got him killed because she dragged Elizabeth and Proctor into the court and caused the problem in which proctor was sent to repent but he did not so he was hung caused him to die because of hysteria which Abigail started from when she was stabbed until when he was hung this was all apart of having mass hysteria in Salem without having adequate proof to take someone to court.
