Today started out like any other day. We were almost late to school, my brothers were teasing me, and my mother was finally learning to read.
Hurry! We're late again
Let's go to school!
This chater started with Malala's typical morning routine: a late wake-up, a quick breakfast, and a rushed trip to the bus. She said that she was "ridiculously happy" that morning. At school, her day was filled with tests and followed by conversations with friends. When it was time to get on the bus, Malala had forgotten to look for Atal before they left, which caused some quickly-resolved drama. Unfortunately, while the day had started out happily, it didn't end that way. Midway through Malala's bus ride, a man had climbed on and shot her, which caused her to be severely injured.
I chose an earthquake to represent this chapter because they cause huge amounts of destruction, but you can't even see them coming, like how Malala couldn't see this life-altering injury coming her way.
