  • Election of 1860
  • Abraham Lincoln gets elected president and South Carolina and other southerns states secede from the union afraid that Lincoln would abolish slavery in the south and the rest of the union.
  • Fort sumter
  • The South demanded that  the soldiers that were guarding Fort Sumter to leave because they were part of the union after they refuse the confederacy attacks Fort Sumter and the Civil war starts. 
  • Emancipation Proclamation
  • The Emancipation Proclamation declares that slaves were now free but only the ones that were in the "rebelling'' states and it also allowed the enlistment of African American soldiers.
  • Battle of Gettysburg
  • It was the turning point in the Civil War  and the bloodiest 3 day battle after this battle the North will continue major battles.
  • Gettysburg Address
  • Abraham Lincoln gave a speech where he stated that the U.S was one nation and not separate sovereign states.
  •      Appomattox 
  • This marked the end of the Civil war where Robert E. Lee surrender to Ulysses S. Grant during the Civil war and this ended the war
