  • HELP ME!
  • I think I better leave.
  • I will just walk away
  • A Jewish man was on his way to Jericho from Jerusalem. He was suddenly attacked by robbers. They took all his belongings and clothes, beat him, left him half dead before running away.
  • Let me look after you
  • Shortly after the robbers left, a Priest happened to pass by that way. The man was hopeful as he believed that Priests are holy and will help the needy. The Priest noticed the man lying on the floor. But he kept walking and acted like nothing happened.
  • Let me take you to an Inn
  • After few hours, a Levite was walking down the road. Levites are people who assisted priests with their work. He would probably help the man. He slowed down, walked a little closer to the man, but kept walking without helping at all.
  • This man is in great pain. Take these coins and please look after him
  • Yes I will certainly make room for him
  • The man was bleeding more and more. Shortly, a Samaritan walked by. Jews believed in God whereas Samaritans had their own belief system. Jews and Samaritans never got along well. So we would expect the Samaritan to walk away. However, to the man's surprise, the Samaritan stopped by and cared for the man.
  • Unlike others, he didn't walk away. Instead, he came closer to the man and cared for the man. He applied oil and wine on the sores to prevent them from getting worse. The Samaritan lifted the man onto his donkey and took him to a nearby Inn.
  • The Samaritan paid the Inn and asked to take care of the man. The Samaritan also said that he will come back and repay for any extra cost.
