  • King Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette married at the age of 15 and 14. His grandfather, King Louis XV died a few years later, but King Louis XVI did not feel ready for the position. He was also not interested in having a child with Marie Antoinette.
  • The population of France is growing and people are becoming more hungry and are very poor as there is not enough food to feed them all.
  • Meanwhile in Versailles, while her people were suffering and starving, Marie Antionette was living her luxurious life to the fullest.
  • She hasn't even conceived a child yet after 7 years of marriage!
  • Madame Deficit
  • She represents all that is wrong.
  • The nation is starving. Bread is expensive and scarce. Therefore people start stealing bread from one another as well as from shops and homes.
  • I need to stop this.
  • Louis XVI feels threatened by the growing radicalism of the 3rd estate. Delegates of the 3rd estate suspect a plot and declare themselves the National Assembly. By July 1789, Louis XVI was already gathering his forces.
  • I am Maximilian Robespierre. I speak for the 3rd estate. I demand that the clergy and nobility pay taxes.
  • On the 14th July 1789 the people of France stormed the Bastille for gunpowder. And the French Revolution began.
