Hi, my name is John Phillips and today we'll go back in time to explore early modern times.
Hey! I am in the woods right now hiding from Ming officials. In 1368, the Mongols were driven out of China and the Ming Dynasty began. The Emperor was Hongwu and he led the rebel army that flushed out the Mongols. Emperor Hongwu’s son, Yonglo, began voyages of imperial control Led by Zheng He.
I'm in Portugal right now. There was no elaborate bureaucracy like Spanish/Portuguese. Individual colonies were allowed to set up their own structures, with most of them setting up representative bodies like the British Parliament British. The government formed partnerships with trading companies, and was most interested in profits.
Today I'm at Burma, the capital of the centralized Ottoman government, an empire with professional cavalry force with a strong navy. The islamic empires during this time supported a new flowering of Islamic civilization. However, competition between them also led to important political divisions and military clashes. All three originated in the Turkic nomadic cultures of the central Asian steppe, and they all had absolute monarchs who modeled their courts on those of earlier Islamic dynasties.
I'm in the America's right now! Colonies of sugar had a sharply defined racial system here. With Columbus's encounter with the Western Hemisphere creating competition among European powers for dominance in the Americas, these British colonies developed local self-government.
So, thats it.. I'm back home! That's the end of my time travelling adventures.
