After the Trojan war Aeneas and his family sailed to Carthage and asked Queen Dido if they are allowed to settle here because their city had been burnt down by the Greeks.
I'm so sorry but I must leave for Latium
But why, I love you!
A few days after they settle, Aeneas and Queen Dido fall in love with each other

When Aeneas was asleep he had a dream about his mother telling him he needs to complete his quest to find a peaceful place for his people to settle as she did not think Carthage was suitable.
Aeneas tells Queen Dido the dream he had last night. The next day Aeneas decided he must complete this quest and leave Queen Dido. This shocks and saddens the Queen, who become depressed and commits suicide, but before she does that she places a curse on him and the people of Latium.
Aeneas sails to Latium and tells the king his dream. He then also falls in love with the kings daughter and marries her
Queen Dido's curse comes true and Latium is forever in war.
