  • The Murderer reports to Macbeth that the assassination was successful, but Fleance escaped before they could kill him as well.
  • Macbeth returns to the banquet when he notices that the bloody ghost of Banquo is in his seat and causes a scene, startling the guests.
  • Macbeth begins to ramble about Banquo's ghost when Lady Macbeth decides to end the banquet and talk to her husband.
