Storyboard Text

  • Alright students! Clear your desks!
  • Quiz
  • Oh no! I forgot to study!
  • No homework
  • F
  • Yeah sure. Here it is, dad.
  • So how was your quiz, son! Was it handed back yet?
  • Okay
  • Why don't you go take a walk outside, breathe in and out, and do anything you like that will help you feel less stressed?
  • That is a really terrible grade and you better get an A on your next test, but this was only your first test.
  •  Jack was in school when he scored an F on his first test. Since Jack didn't study, he earned that really bad grade. He was very upset and collected too much distress (negative stress).
  • Wow! Mom's right! I feel a lot better!
  • Until Jack was forced to show his parents the 40% that he earned on his last quiz, Jack kept it a secret and gained some of the symptoms of stress. He frequently had annoying headaches, fatigue, and muscle tension/ pain, but these only lasted one days. Jack's major, longer problems were during the night when he slept, his social life (he didn't even say a word to his best friend, Pat), and he gained more weight than his amount of exercise.
  • No problem, son.
  • When the graded quiz papers were handed out in school, Jack learned that he did very bad. His parents asked him to show the quiz (he couldn't lie because he would have gotten in big trouble if he did). Once they found out the bad grade he received, they were disappointed. However, Jack's parents told him not to worry too much because it was only his first quiz and gave him helpful things to do to get his mind off of it. For example: taking deep breaths and taking a walk outside slowly relieved him of the stress.
  • Happy Friday No Homework
  • Jack decided to take a long walk within his neighborhood and sure enough, he revisited his house feeling more comfortable than during the incident. Taking deep breaths and walking helped Jack (they can help you feel normal again, too) ease out of the distress and made him think what he should've done to get a better grade.
  • Getting stressed over something may happen at some point, but always notify a trustworthy adult if you are ever stressed.
  • Thanks a lot mom!
  • Jack was now entirely back to normal and started regained his friendships at school.
