  • " What the hell you laughin' at? " (Steinbeck.62)
  • Slim and Curley are in the middle of arguing over Curley's wife in the worker's cabin, when Curley notices Lennie smiling behind them.
  • "Leggo his hand, Lennie. Leggo..." (Steinback.64)
  • Curley is furious at Lennie and begins to punch him in the face, thinking he will be too scared to fight back.
  • George tells Lennie to defend himself.  When Curley tries to take another swing at Lennie, he grabs hold of Curley's hand.  Curley is desperately trying to free himself from Lennie's firm grip.
  • George sees that Lennie is completely crushing Curley's hand and tells him to let go.
  •  Crooks, the black stable buck, is sitting alone on the bunk in a room kept very tidy that he has all to himself.
  • Seeing the light of Crooks' room, Lennie appears in the doorway. Crooks' demands he leaves because nobody ever comes in his room.
