It was December 2nd by the time I reached the camp. I had been walking for hours in cold, harsh whether. however, no matter how cold, anything beat starvation in Germany.
The crew there sent me right into a lodge and told me to get a good nights sleep for tomorrow's breakfast.
all we did all day was cut trees and eat and sleep. over a while I got acquainted with my fellow loggers. we sat by fires some nights and told stories of past times.
We all slept in the same cabins and sometimes that made sleeping rough.
We ate a massive breakfast and then went out to keep cutting wood until nightfall and then repeated our process until spring came.
Until finally I found myself leaving down the same path I came down.
