Welcome to Pennsylvania founded by William Penn in 1681. Pennsylvania had tall narrow brick houses. They had gardens that the women tended to. They wore plain brown and white clothing, leather buckled shoes. The women wore long dresses with big hats. with over the knee socks. They believed in all kinds of things including Jews, Moravians, and other religious groups that did not have the freedom in Europe but Quakers were the majority.
The holidays they celebrate are New Years Eve, Twelfth Day, St. Agnes Day, St. Paul's Day, and St. Blazes Day. Not everyone received education but Quaker schools were open to all children. Colonists had some education and knew how to read and write. The jobs they had were traders who made the colony rich, farmers they grew the food and gathered, tanners made shoes and leather things, they also dyed stuff. Craftsmen made stuff from iron and glass. They produced corn, flax seed, rye, wheat, glass, iron, rope, paper, and nails. The famous people were William Penn and John Penn.
This colony had slavery some of the people bought slaves and made them wear blue clothing. The important cities were Valley Forge (George Washington's army stayed there), Chester which is the oldest city, Lancaster (largest inland city at colonial times), Philadelphia (the largest and most important city, the Declaration of Independence was made here). The important cities were French Creek, Clarion River, Harrisburg, Mt. Davis, and Pocono Mt's. The rivers were good for trading. The mountains took up some space. They had warm summers and cold winters so they could grow a lot of crops.
