Exposition A hunter named Ulrich von Gradwitz is in the woods searching for an enemy. This enemy is part of a family that Ulrich's family has been feuding with over a strip of land for years.
Inciting Incident: Ulrich runs into Georg, the enemy, and after a long standoff a tree falls on them. They are very hurt after this and are unable to get out from under the tree.
Rising Action (1): The two men begin to argue about whose men are coming first. They say that if their men come first, they will shoot the other man.
No MY men are coming first!
My men are coming first!
Setting: In a forest in the Carpathian Mountains. It is night time in this story and very cold.
Rising Action (2): They start to resolve their family feud. They decide to become friends instead of enemies.
Let's be best friends and go to the market together!
Point of View: Third Person Omniscient Tone: Suspenseful, because the reader is wondering whether or not they will escape.
Rising Action (3): They see figures in the distance and think it's their men. They then begin to yell for help.
Conflict (s) : Character vs. Nature (Tree vs Georg and Ulrich); (Character vs. Character) Georg vs. Ulrich - fighting about who's men will come first.
Climax The figures that they see are actually wolves running at them. They most likely die because they were making a lot of noise, attracting the wolves to them, and they were pinned under a tree
Main Characters : Georg Znaeym: A relatively poor forester and hunter from a family of foresters and hunters, Georg continues to hunt on the strip of land at the edge of Ulrich’s forest because he believes it should still belong to his family. & Ulrich von Gradwitz: The wealthy owner of wide stretches of hunting grounds and forest in the Carpathian Mountains, Ulrich most closely guards one particular strip of forest because Georg Znaeym also claims ownership over it. They both have men roaming in the forest with them.
