  • The Major Cause...
  • Slavery is viscous and inhumane!
  • And So the War Officially Starts...
  • Attack!
  • The Addressing of the Country after Much Bloodshed and More to Come...
  • Four score and seven years ago...
  • Slavery is the major cause of the war due to it being a main cause, if not the cause of a lot of the issues that brought sectionalism to our country around that time. For example, nullification was proposed due to states not wanting to follow laws put out the federal government if they did not see fit to and/or did not want to.
  • The Gaining of a Major Confederate Advantage By the Union...
  • When is this siege going to be over?
  • The fighting of the Civil War started in Charleston, South Carolina at the Battle of Fort Sumter. Though this battle was only two days long and there were no deaths by the Union or the Confederacy, it is significant because it was this battle that caused the Union to realize that this would not be the "quick" and "easy" war as they had suspected.
  • The War Officially Coming to an End...
  • The Confederacy surrenders to the Union.
  • The Gettysburg Address was given after the Battle of Gettysburg. The significance of this address is that Lincoln knew that he needs to address the country after that battle because of the amount of pain and turmoil caused by the war up to that point, especially after that battle with the amount of death, and also because it was that battle that truly showed who the ultimate winner of the war was going to be, and Lincoln realizes that and know that others realize that as well.
  • The Reuniting of a Torn Apart Country...
  • The campaign of Vicksburg was fought in Vicksburg, Mississippi. This campaign caused Ulysses S. Grant to be detained from other parts of the war going on at the same time, but it did not come without a major win, which is major because it resulted in the Confederates losing one of their big advantages that they had left, which was control of a piece of the Mississippi River at Fort Vicksburg.
  • This battle, the Battle of Appomattox, fought in Appomattox, Virginia marks the last of this gruesome and bloody war because it is at the end of this war that Lee surrenders to Grant with a army of an amount of smaller than 10,000. The significance of this battle is obvious. It is the end of the war and after comes the reconstruction of the divided country!
  • The goals of reconstruction is what is hoped to be accomplished through the reuniting of the torn apart country at the end of a deadly and terrible war. The first goal is to let the confederate states rejoin the Union. The second goal is to fix the economy of the South, since it relied deeply on slavery and the final goal is to help those who were slaves with the newcome freedom, such as help with the attaining of education and property.
