Types of Prayer
The Lord's Prayer
Saint Hildegard was rich in the virtue of hope and prayed to God very much. She was a Benedictine nun. Saint Hildegard was the leader of her religious community. She believed that prayer and hope deepens our love for God.
Vocal Prayer, Meditation, and Contemplation are the three kinds of prayer. Vocal prayer can be said out loud or in our hearts. In meditation, we connect quietly with Christ. Contemplation is a silent kind of pray that does not use words.
The Lord's Prayer, or the Our Father, is the prayer of all Christians. There two versions, there is a shorter version or a longer version. The longer version is more tradition version is found in Matthew's Gospel. The shorter version is found in the Gospel of Luke. The versions both address God by name, honor God, and ask God to respond to our needs.
