It'sbasically mario with a bow shooting stuff on a path he jumps along.
Checkpoint to fire from
Character would use weapon to hit attacking monsters, clearing path would result in level complete.
This is the layout of a pathway, or level. There will be multiple pathways in game, with the goal of completing all of them to win. This is sort of like mario with weapons.
Once that is clear, player would move character to next checkpoint. Until checkpoints are taken enemies can use and pass through them
as you go on, enemies get harder.
Pathway (level) boss is on the last check point and more powerful than other enemies. Should have unique attacks.
From some sort of town square, you can get new weapons and maybe armor, and you can start to attack another pathway.
