  • They weren't treated as fairly as men and that's why these jobs listed below are very low unappreciated jobs. Men were stronger and tougher than women and they had the ability of doing more stuff than women. AW
  • The only alternative to marriage for Elizabethan women from the lower classes was therefore domestic service. The married state was seen as highly desirable by all women of the lower classes. AW
  • Single women could spend their life in a convent or a nunnery. The only other option was domestic service. Women were basically free to do whatever they wanted to. AW
