What she witnessed changed her life
Get down or you will be in trouble
Children and adults were treated cruelly and conditions were horrible. Even the mentally ill were wipped
She spent two full years writing reports on what she saw
Lawmakers were so shocked they created mental hospitals, and a system for the juvenile kids, which has improved over the years
Dix showed reformers she could lead society to signifigant change and this is now known as the Prison Reform Movement
