George and Hazel are sitting watching the ballerinas on the television. It tells us in the exposition about how people have handicaps and certain ones send a wince to people to keep them from becoming more intelligent than everyone else. Then they see a picture of Harrison come onto their television.
Hazel and George are watching the ballerinas performance on T.V. The ballerinas are handicapped by weights and masks to equalize their appearance and weight. Then a warning pops up on the screen saying that Harrison has escaped from prison and posses a threat to the government.
Harrison bursts into the studio during the show. He screams about how he is the Emperor while he tears off his handicaps. After all this he cries out and asks for his Empress, and one of the ballerinas stepped forward who agrees to become his Empress. Harrison instructs the musicians to start playing.
In the middle of the dance, Diana Moon Glampers, the Handicapper General, arrives with a shotgun. Then shoots the ballerina and Harrison killing both of them. At that point the television goes our at his parents house, and they don't see him get shot.
George has gone to the kitchen for a beer and seems to have missed his sons murder. Hazel is concerned about the television blackout. George notices that she shes neen crying, but she doesn't remember why, just that something sad happened on television.
Harrison is a tall and handsome young man. He doesn't like the government and their ways of living. He feels oppressed having to wear heavier handicaps than most people, and feels like none of this should exist.
