After their uncle attempted to drown, Romulus and Remus, sons of a vestal virgin, were found for Faustulus.
When they were older, the became leaders of a band of shepherd warriors. They decided to found a town, which Romulus became the ruler of. The town was named "Rome" after him.
While Romulus was building the walls, Remus mocked him, so Romulus killed Remus. After he became the king, he decided to abduct women from the neighboring Sabines which caused a war.
The war resulted in the union of the two towns. But, when the Sabine king died, Romulus became the king of all the land.
After Romulus died, there were six more kings of Rome, and the last three believed to be Etruscans.
Around 509 B.C., the Roman Republic was established.
