Storyboard Text

  • Introduction
  • Daddy, please stop!
  • Setting
  • Main Conflict
  • This is Celie. She's a 14 year old African American girl who lives with her father, Alphonso(left) and her sister, Nettie(right). Alphonso is an abusive father who constantly rapes and beats Celie and is also setting his eyes on Nettie. Nettie is a kind hearted girl who feels bad about her sister's treatment.
  • Climax
  • You are supposed to take care of her, you hear me?! If you mess up, I'll have you beaten!
  • Celie and her family lived in rural Georgia in the 20th century. They lived in s amll house in the countryside, almost secluded from other people. There weren't tall buildings like in today's era and they only had a house phone.
  • Climax (Pt. 2)
  • I can't believe this!!
  • One day, Celie's father married her off to a man named Mr. ______. He originally wanted Nettie but Alphonso declined and instead gave him Celie. She had to pack up to go and wit him, leaving her sister behind in the hands of her abusive father.
  • Theme
  • Mr. _______ is also an abusive man who makes Celie cook and clean for him. He also who forces Celie to take care of his lover, Shug, who is fatally ill. Through taking care of her, Celie and Shug became friends and eventually started to love one another.
  • Whilst taking care of Shug, Celie discovers that Nettie has been sending letters which Mr. _____ has been hiding from her. Finding the letters give Celie the courage to leave Alberto along with Shug. They move  to Mephmis and Alberto's life falls apart.
  • I believe that the theme of this book is that you should be whoever you are. Do not let your bad experiences in the past define who you are. You should not feel like a prisoner in your own skin. The author's purpose is to encourage youths to be themselves.
