The main character, who has just returned from the Third Crusade, is angered at the possibility of another one. He begins telling the tale of his father's and Grandfather's journeys in the Second and First Crusades. After he finishes telling the story of his grandfather in the first, he begins telling the story of the second.
The Regrouping at Jerusalem
The Main Character's Father journeys to Constantinople in order to to join the Second Crusade (cutscene).
The Battle of Damascus
The Crusading armies attempt to take back the city of Edessa, failing in the process.
The March Back to Europe
After the disastrous defeat at Edessa, the MC's father journeys to Jerusalem (cutscene) to meet up with the rest of the Crusading armies, and attack a new target: Damascus.
The MC's father participates in the Siege of Damascus, in which he slays a high-ranking Muslim soldier, which he begins to feel guilty for, as said soldier seemed to be a kind-hearted leader. Ultimately, the siege fails, and the armies regroup to Jerusalem again.
The MC's Father journeys back to Europe with the remaining Crusader armies. The Main Character finishes his story and goes on to tell of his experiences in the Third Crusade.
