This is when the moon gets in the way of the sun's shadow, therefore blocking the light
This is a solar eclipse, as you can see, the moon is covering most of the sun's light.
This is a lunar eclipse, as you can see, the moon is orangish reddish.
The reason the moon is orange is because the earth is covering the moon's light from the sun, therefore giving the moon a darker color.
A solar eclipse happens when the moon lines up with the sun. The ring of light around the moon is there because even know they are aligned, the sun is still larger than the sun, even if it's farther away from the earth.
A lunar eclipse happens when the moon is being completely covered by the earth, so the light from the sun can't get to the moon. That's why the moon appears to be darker because not much light is getting to the moon.
