Hi I'm Hundert! I am an ancient history teacher at St. Benedict's School.
My classroom is, "a tribute to the lofty ideals of man, which I hoped would inspire my boys, and at the same time to the fleeting nature of human accomplishments, which I hoped would temper their ambition with humility." (Canin 156-157)
Sadly Sedgewick is "a boor and a bully, a damper to the illumination of the eager minds of my boys." (Canin 159).
Hundert's is an ancient history teacher that has worked at this school for many years, he devotes his life to this school and the boys within.
I am going to meet with your father!
Mr. Hunderts believes his teaching not only impacts the boys in a learning aspect, but also to 'mold' them as men.
'It,s my job, sir, to mold your sons character" (Canin 163).
I would have to disagree! It is My job to 'mold' my son. You are just a "horse who can talk" (Canin 163.)
Sedgewick Bell is the main impact in Mr. Hundert´s life. He impacted so much in his life because Mr. Hundert´s believed he needs to ´mold´ ALL of his students, so he is not gonna let Sedgewicks flunk as a man with his bad attitude and carelessness.
Hundert's no longer can deal with the bad attitude of Sedgewick, so he decides to have Senator Bell his father come in for a speech.
At first Hundert's is very nervous to meet Senator Bell because his ranking is very respectful. But after talking to him he loses all the reason to look up to him because of his lack of respect and professionalism.
After meeting Senator Bell, Hundert feels sympathetic for Sedgewick. He couldn't imagine being raised by such a 'tyrant'.
Oh, "What it must have been like raised under such a tyrant"(Canin 164). But maybe its partially my fault because I take it so much easier on him compared to my other students.
