14 JuneThe Tower of London is taken by the peasants. The Archbishop of Canterbury and the treasurer are killed on Tower Hill. King Richard II meets the rebels at Mile End. He promises them justice, gives the peasants all they ask for and ask that they go home in peace.
15 JuneRichard II meets the rebels again. Wat Tyler then presents the King with his list of demands, to which the King agrees. Suddenly, one of the Kings Lords kills Wat Tyler from behind. This is a signal for the Kings troops to attack the peasants: 1500 of them are killed.
After the revoltBy the summer of 1381, the revolt was over. The main leaders had been hanged. Richard did not keep his promises: the poll tax was withdrawn but the peasants were forced back into their old way of life.
