The Virginia Company sent the Pilgrims and a few others to get furs, riches, crops, and lumber. They also thought it was a good place to defend from the Spanish and Indians.
The land they choose was bad for farming and full of mosquitos. Many died of stavation, disease or the harsh winter.
I would bring screens to put over the clothes so they wouldn't get stung and die from disease. I would bring rich dirt to cover the bad dirt, and bring lots of extra food so they wouldn't die from hunger. I would also bring lots of heavy blankets so they would be warm during the winter.
