Well 2 months ago we drove 300 km and it cost us $366, and last month we drove 1500 km and it cost us $510.
That means our y-intercept is 330 and that our slope is 0.12.
That means that our equation would be c = .12d + 330. In this equation c = cost and d = distance. This is the right equation because our car costs $330 a month and for each kilometer we drive it costs $0.12.
The slope is the rate of change in our equation and the y-intercept is the point at which our line passes through the y-axis when our equation is graphed.
How far can we drive this month?
Since we only have $600 we can only drive 2250 km this month.
So that means that if we drive 1000 km in a month then it will cost $450, and if we drive 2000 km in a month it will cost $570.
