  • Thomas is talking about his slam dunking skills in the school cafeteria with the track team, Mattis bet him he couldn't clear 6'6 in high jump (Epstein 5)
  • Thomas and Mattis went to the coaches office and he couldn't believe how high Thomas could jump and wanted him to join the track team (Epstein 5)
  • Thomas's first attempt he qualified for national championships and set a new record for Lindenwood university (Epstein 5)
  • Thomas shattered the world record and won the 2007 World Championships against Holms, who has trained his whole life for this moment (Epstein 6)
  • Scientist examined Thomas to find out why he could jump so high and found out that  he had a very long and stiff achilles tendon (Epstein 7)
  • Scientist discovered that genes can give you a little advantage in sports. You can train to stiffen your achilles tendon, however you can't change the length of your achilles tendon        (Epstein 7-8)
