  • 3000 years ago, a devastating drought hit Greater Egypt and lasted between 1250 and 1100 BCE.
  • The Nile floods every year and, because of the drought, the River Nile failed to flood.
  • Without the flooding Nile, death came over all crops and livestock.
  • In order to prepare for the incoming doom, the pharaohs ordered for more grain in more fertile areas then shared it around the kingdom.
  • On and on the drought lasted yet the pharaoh insisted to breed more drought resistant cattle and grow more to keep his kingdom alive.
  • Today, Egyptians still use the Nile for many things such as transport, trade, industry, farming and they even they even built the biggest dam in the world called the Aswan dam.
