We are workers at the East Birmingham Cotton Factory.
I am 7 years old
I am 59
I am about to turn 15
I'm 64 years old
We work very hard but we still can't afford much food or clean water. We don't have much time to get food because work for so long. It is very hard to survive but it's our only chance.
We work from dawn to dusk every day of the week. The factory managers beat us if we stop working or are late for work.
My name is Robert Owens and I'm a socialist. When I bought New Lanark village/factory and was appalled at the conditions that the workers had to live in.
I decided to reduce working hours for all the staff. But I stopped work for children under the age of 10 and set up schools for them. I also set up shops and a hospital.
