Odysseus and his men arrived at an island. They were very hungry, and in need of water. They were very desperate.
While searching the island, they found a huge cave with food in it. They found everything they needed. Food. Water. Live stock. It was all there. They wanted to take the food, but Odysseus wanted to stay, so he could see who the owner of the cave was.
Odysseus and the other 12 men started a fire, drank wine, and ate delicious foods. It was getting dark, but Odysseus was still determined to get his gift.
When the owner got home, they weren't expecting a cyclops. And the cyclops wasn't expecting them to show up. Odysseus then tries to get a gift out oh him. Soon after the cyclops ate two men for lunch, and two at dinner. Odysseus gives the cyclops wine after. Odysseus is asked his name. He comes up with ' nohbody'.
They couldn't kill the cyclops because they weren't strong enough to push the boulder away from the door. They made a wooden stake and burnt it with coal and fire. They blinded him, and caught the attention of more cyclopes. Odysseus's plan works, and the cyclops answers with ' Nobody is hurting me, nobody is harming me.'
Odysseus tied his men to the bellies of the sheep. the cyclops checked the top, but didn't know the men were on the bottom. They left with his sheep, and the cyclops asked his father Poseidon to curse their trip back to Ithaca.
