In June of 2016, I came home from a five hour shift. When I walked inside, my family was sitting in the living room talking. I went into my room to change, since I was extremely sweaty and hot, when my dad called for me to come sit in the living room. That is when he told me I was going to be a big sister again, and I was not very happy.
Did you get the text?
My dad talked to me over the next couple weeks about why I was upset about being a big sister again. I told him that 17 years is a huge difference for siblings, and the baby would not remember me when I left or came back from college. My dad kind of understood my points, but words couldn't explain how I felt.
I'm so happy!
In December, a month before my stepmom was due, we had a baby shower! We played many games and had lots of fun with our families. However, when my stepsister got a "big sister book" and my other sister and I didn't get anything, this really hurt our feelings. We were going to be big sisters too.
Words can't describe how much I love her.
On January 19th, 2017, I went back to school after spending a week in Florida. I received a text early that afternoon saying that my sister had entered the world. The next time I saw my other sister in the hallway, I stopped her and asked if she got the text. She did, and we were both very excited, however, we did not get a picture because of complications.
On Saturday, January 21, 2017, I drove to my dads house to meet my little sister for the first time. As soon as she was handed to me, my eyes filled up with water and I was extremely happy that I had another little sister. I couldn't wait to watch her grow for the rest of my life.
My little sister is almost a year old now. I have watched her grow a lot, and she is now learning how to walk on her own. I always put time aside to play with my sister because she won't be this little forever.
