Storyboard Text

  • Slave States
  • Us slave states want slaves to count as population. Of course they won't be able to vote, but they will count for representation in congress. However, we should not be taxed more because of them.
  • Slaves should not count for representation. That would give you slave states double the representation. That's not fair. That gives you guys too much power. However, slaves should count for taxation because they are people.
  • No Slaves States.
  • 3/5 of the slaves would count for representation in congress, and taxation. This came across as though slaves were 3/5 of a human being (some people thought they were 0/5 of a human being) but that's not what congress meant. It was just the way they split slaves for representation.
  • 3/5 Compromise
  • The Articles of Confederation needs to be abandoned. We need to have a strong central government. We also don't see a need in a Bill of Rights, and the constitution needs to be ratified as soon as possible.
  • Federalists
  • The Articles of Confederation can just be fixed. The states should still hold the most power. We need a Bill of Rights, and we don't need a constitution.
  • Anti-Federalists.
  • The Constitution would be ratified in 1789, and a Bill of Rights would be worked on to be added.
  • Compromise
