  • Louis Pasteur was in France to a Sergeant Major in France on 7th December 1822
  • Pasteur was skilled at drawing and painting. He earned am arts degree and a science degree.
  • Pasteur showed that otherwise identical molecules could exist as mirror images (or 'left' and 'right-handed' versions.) He noticed that molecules produced by living things were always left-handed. This discovery was a fundamental step forward in microbiology, underpinning modern drug development and even our understanding of DNA.
  • he created vaccines for sheep anthrax, chicken cholera and rabies. He injected hios rabies vaccine into a 9 year old boy, saving his life.
  • he was approached by a beer brewer in 1862 who's beer kept going off and becoming sour . He examined the beer and found many micro organisms, germs, after many investigations he discovered germs were the cause of putrification not an effect of. He also dicovered boiling liquids can kill germs. Although his ideas were ridiculed, his germ theory is still believed today.
  • He died in 1895 age 72 with 2 of his five children alive and his wife. His name is immortalized in medical history forever.
