Storyboard Text

  • Michelangelo was a painter, architect, and sculptor. He was born March 6, 1475 and died in 1564 on February 18th. He had made many paintings and statues by the time he died including David's statue and the Sistine Chapel.
  •  Michelangelo di Lodovico Buonarroti Simoni 1475-1564
  •  My most famous work was the Sistine Chapel. Not only did I paint the ceiling, I also designed the dome on the the top which has been copied many times in different buildings. Although they were religious paintings, they expressed my interest in the people who came before us by painting in the way they would have painted.
  • The Sistine Chapel 1508-1512
  • Humanities was about the fact that we are here right now. Living in the moment instead of focusing on religion. Michelangelo did have many paintings that were religious. But the way he used the styles at his time showed an understanding of the here and now and a thirst for new knowledge made him a humanist.
  • The Humanist Michelangelo?
  • Thee, I am William Shakespeare. I was born in 1564 on the 26th of April and laid on my death bed on the 23 of April in 1616.I am a great writer who brought hundreds of words to the English language and wrote 37 plays in my day.
  • William Shakespeare 1564-1616
  • Hamlet is my greatest work, my masterpiece, it is to me what the Mona Lisa is to Leonardo da Vinci. Hamlet is the story of a prince whose father is killed and he is forced into the role of king. Throughout the story he avenges his father and many other characters die off including the prince. This story highlights many intricate character s emotions and creates characters that  evolve through the story . I have a great understanding of humanity and write plays to give them entertainment for a short while to focus them on the here and now.
  • Hamlet 1601
  • A humanist focuses on the here and now and watching a play is focusing on that principal. Plays couldn't be recorded so you usually got the one chance to learn a new story with a new plot and ending. Shakespeare made 37 plays that brought people to the theater so that they could see a 2 hour performance and escape worries and help them focus on what they were doing at that time. Like watching the tale of two lovers, or a man with a donkey head or the ghost of a king consul his son. Shakespeare was a humanist, the end.
  • Is thy Shakespeare a humanist?
