The Train Station
Leaving the babies
Jing-Mei and her dad, Canning, meet her great aunt, Aiyi, and her family at the train station. Aiyi brought her grandson and his wife, her granddaughter and her husband and her great-great-granddaughter named Lili. They then head to the hotel
What happened to the twins
That night jIng-Mei wakes up while they are discussing her sisters. She learns their names are Chwun Yu and Chwun Hwa. They mean " Spring Rain" and "Spring Flower." She also learns that her mom's name means "Long Cherished Wish" and her own name means "pure essence" and "younger sister"
America and finding the twins
It is then explained how Suyuan left the babies. She walked with the babies until she couldn't anymore.She left the twins with some valuables and left, hoping they would be adopted by someone. Eventually, she passed out and woke up in the back of a truck
Meeting the sisters
The twins were taken in by a peasant woman and her husband. They lived in a cave and couldn't read or write. A few months later they found someone who could read the note Suyuan left the twins.
Suyuan met Jing-Mei's dad after she was rescued. SHe tried to look for the twins for a period of time but lost hope an d moved to the US. Years later a friend of hers spotted and instantly recognized the twins in a shopping center and told Suyuan
At the airport Jing-Mei instantly recognizes her sisters. they look like her mom. They hug eachother and start crying. Jing-Mei finally realizes that she is in fact Chinese and it helps her discover a part of herself.
