In this scene Carlson is taking Candy's dog out to go put him down. The death of Candy's dog in a way foreshadows Lennies's unfortunate death. This scene also shows that friends have to make hard choices for each other even if it's to sacrifice something.
In this scene Lennie screws it all up, by strangling Curley's wife and breaking her neck. At this point there is no going back from this and their dream is slowly fading. This shows that sometimes you can be your own downfall.
This is the final scene in the book "Of Mice and Men", and in this scene George shoots Lennis in the back of the head. With the death of Lennie, also come with the death of their dreams. The theme for this is somethings just ain't meant to happen.
