The protagonist is the narrator of the story as he explains when and how it started as he could be the cause of the crimes also... the protagonist in the story is very Dynamice because they don't act like they did anything until the end of the story.
The man is known as 'SpringHeel Jack' as he is the one that could be behind all of these crimes. The protagonist however, is very static, he is always killing someone, but the only plot twist is that we don't know what else he does.

I had a headache and I walked for air, smeeling the wet, misty smell of the sprin that was slowly wiping away..." this scene creates suspense as it heads on saying that whenever it is spring and when their is fog, the murderer usually comes out to kill college students. As this is another sign leading up to a student dying.
The theme of the story is, you never know what you may carry with you coming back home as it can affect you when you don't know that it happened, this book generalized the fact that although you may seem innocent, not everything is the way it seems.
The mood of this story is like any ordinary high school horror, however, the only twist to this is that not all people can be trusted in this story. As it leads us on thinking that there is a masked murderer but the only one who is doing all this could be the protagonist.
