Lizabeth lived in her little house with her mother, father and younger brother. At the time the great depression was going on and so her father did not have a job. Her mother was the only one bring money home and Lizabeth was at the stage in her life not knowing if she was an adult or still a child, so all this that was happening really put her in a confusing and stressful situation.
Since Lizabeth's mother was the only one with a job her father stayed home being depressed. Her mother always came home late and so this cause Lizabeth sadness but one night Lizabeth overheard their parents arguing about this topic and well this made the situation worse.
The situation arose to the point where Lizabeth went to Miss Lottie's home and stared to rip all the Marigolds that Miss Lottie planted. All of this anger and sadness built up to the point were Lizabeth would do such a childish thing and at that moment she knew that action was the last moment of her innocence. She had redeemed compassion.
