  • The Intolerable Acts closed Boston Harbor, forbid town meetings, and forced the colonists to pay for the tea destroyed at the Boston Tea Party. The importance remains in the fact that the act triggered anger and provoked the colonists to stand up against the King.
  • I did nothing wrong!
  • At Lexington and Concord, a group of colonists gathered a militia to defend their ammunition from an invading British army. This act told the King that the colonists were capable of uniting together and building an army to fight against the King, making a big turning point in history.
  • Common Sense was a pamphlet written by Thomas Paine. That shifted the one third undicided colonist's opinions into patriotism. This serves as a great moment where the colonists started to agree that the only way for peace was independence.
