  • Sam Langford was born 4 March 1886 in Weymouth Falls Nova Scotia he was a professional boxer
  • Sam Langford was a professional boxer who competed across multiple weight classes during his 24 year career
  • Sam Langford often found success against much larger opponents and listing with 138 knockouts also may have fought in over 600 matches
  • When he arrived in Boston, he took a janitorial job in the boxing gym at the Lenox Athletic Club
  • caught the attention of club owner Joe Woodman, who became his manager and helped launch his career
  • In 1955 he was inducted into Canadas Sports Hall of Fame and the Ring Boxing Hall of Fame becoming the first non champion to earn the honour and sadly died in Jan 12 1956
