*Whisper* Hey you behind the screen this is 1977, not 2018 you shouldn't be here. Who am I? I'm sorry but i'm under no obligation to to tell you but since your here let me fill you in
Well if you couldn't tell we are in a courtroom, the trial has to do with a young boy named James. James was taken to the principal's office for doing something disruptful, the principle was going to give him 5 swats with a paddle then James refused because he said he did nothing wrong he got 20 instead, then he was out for 10 days and got sent to the hospital. His mom sued stating it was against the 8th amendment which protected people from cruel and unusual punishment
I have ruled that the defendant is non-guilty because the 8th amendment defends criminals from harsh and unusual punishment from the government, not children who misbehave. But it should be made clear that the school should find a less violent but equally effective method because this was too much.
