Storyboard Text

  • Massacre of Unarmed Aztec
  • I must defeat Velazquez's men. Pedro de Alvarado, you will be in charge until I come back.
  • Yes, sir!
  • Massacre of Unarmed Aztec
  • Men, attack!!
  • Noche Triste (Sorrowful Night)
  • Attack!! This is unacceptable! We welcome you into our land and this is what you pay us back with?!
  • Velazquez sent men to arrest Cortes and so he had to leave Tenochtitlan to deal with them. He put Pedro de Alvarado in charge.
  • An Unforeseen Enemy
  • The plague spread and almost half the population died in a span of five months.
  • On the night of the festival to honour Huitzilopochtli, the Aztecs were killed by Alvarado and they gathered arms to fight back.
  • The Final Battle
  • Cortes defeated Velazquez's men but found his men trapped when he went back to Tenochtitlan. The Spanish tried to flee using the causeways but the Aztecs spotted them and killed the warriors. The Spanish were slowed down because they tried to take as much gold as they could.
  • The Final Battle
  • Cortes ordered Moctezuma to persuade his people but died from stones hurled at him. Meanwhile, the Aztecs were dying of smallpox the Spanish brought with them. Almost half the population died in a span of five months. Cuitlahuac, a leader for only 80 days after Moctezuma's death, also died from smallpox. His cousin Cuauhtemoc succeeded him.
  • The final battle began and the Aztecs withstood the seige for 75 days. Cortes used the smallpox plague to his advantage and blocked canals, causeways, and aqueducts. The remaining population of the Aztecs that survived the plague either died of starvation or contaminated water.
  • Cuauhtemoc was taken prisoner and hanged and the Aztecs surrendered on August 13, 1521.
  • Please stop! We surrender!
