  • Act 2, Scene 1
  • "Beseechyou,sir,be merry.you have cause,so have we all,of joy,for our escape…"(1-4)
  • Act 2, Scene 1
  • "I would with such perfection govern,sir,t' execl the Golden age."(175)
  • Act 2, Scene 2
  • "here's neither bush nor shrub to bear off any weather…it is should thunder as it did before…(sees Caliban)"what do we have here"(20-30)
  • Alonso, King of Naples, Antonio, Sebastian, Gonzalo wash up on the island. Gonzalo tries to comfort them and say they should be appreciative that they are alive. Alonso is upset that his son hasn't shown up. so ariel sends them to sleep except Antonio and Sebastian
  • Act 2, Scene 2
  • "this is some monster of the isle with 4 legs who hath got,as I take it, an agur"(69-70)
  • while they sleep Antonio and Sebastian plan on killing the king and his loyal servant and take over his kingdom. they were awakened in the middle of the act by Ariel and they questioned why they had the knfies out they said they were only trying to protect them and eventually plan on killing them both 
  • Act 2, Scene 2
  • "I swear upon that bottle to be thy true subject, for the liquor is not earthly"(127)
  • on the other side of the island, Caliban made friends with Trinculo and Stephano. trinculo hides with Caliban because he is first shown up alone and got scared of the thunder and didn't know what to do.
  • Act 2, Scene 2
  • "I'll take an oath that I'm your loyal subject"(154-155)
  • Stephen arrives on a barrel and realized his buddy Triculo is with this monster, his plan was to try to tame (monster) Caliban and take him back to the emperor as an exhibit for them to see and make a lot of money off of him 
  • after everyone gets situated he (Caliban) realizes they aren't spirits picking on him but instead "gods" because they have this heaven-sent liquid (alcohol)
  • Caliban insists on becoming Stephano's servant exchange for some alcohol. he would show him the islands riches and all he would want in exchange would be the alcohol. the two gentlemen believe the rest of the men are dead so agreed to become kings of the new island and have Caliban as their servant. Caliban then thinks he's done being Prospero's "picking post" although he only volunteered never officially
