3rd estate: Represented largest population, peasants, Sans Culottes, paid the most taxes. 2nd estate: Nobility of the robe (Nouveau Riche) and nobility of the sword (old money). Owned 20% of the land. 1st estate: Clergy, paid NO taxes, controlled education, and followed their own rules.
