  • Gatsby's Green Light
  • Gatsby and Daisy Reunite
  • Reality vs. Expectations
  • "Involuntarily I glanced seaward— and distinguished nothing except a single green light, minute and far away, that might have been the end of a dock." This quote is significant because it it is starting of the plot. It shows his determination from the beginning to the end.
  • Vengeance of George Wilson
  • “They were sitting at either end of the couch, looking at each other as if some question had been asked, or was in the air, and every vestige of embarrassment was gone. “ This is like the rising action where they see each other for the first time in years and they think everything is going to be okay, even though Daisy has an idea that it's not.
  • Gatsby's Death
  • “But with every word she was drawing further and further into herself, so he gave that up, and only the dead dream fought on as the afternoon slipped away, trying to touch what was no longer tangible, struggling unhappily, undespairingly, toward that lost voice across the room.“ This quote is expressing how Gatsby lost Daisy here. She knows she's better off with Tom. Daisy sees the realization now and she can't handle it anymore.
  • Gatsby's Funeral
  • "Thus far there was no difficulty in accounting for his time — there were boys who had seen a man “acting sort of crazy..” Mr. Wilson thinks he knows the truth and thinks that Tom gave him all the right information but he didn't. Tom only wants to get revenge back on Gatsby just like George thinks he's doing. Not even Tom knows that it was Daisy.
  • Gatsby's death is significant to the story because it showed everyone when the American Dream died since Gatsby represented it. Everyone wanted to be like Gatsby and when he died people stopped believing in the American Dream because they didn't want to end up like him.
  • “ “Why, my God! they used to go there by the hundreds.” He took off his glasses and wiped them again, outside and in.“The poor son-of-a-bitch,” he said.“ Gatsby had no one. Everyone else used him for his money and fortune.
